If the ocean had a voice, what would it say to us?
Dear Humanity,
I have sung songs for millions of years
a rhythm of tides, a whisper of waves, a heartbeat of the Earth.
I cradled your ancestors, gave you food, travel, wonder.
I’ve been your mirror, your playground, your home.
But now… I cry.
You fill me with plastic, pour poison into my veins.
My children the whales, the turtles, the corals are drowning in silence.
My reefs are bleaching, my ice is melting,
And my depths are growing darker, colder… emptier.
Do you not see?
What you do to me, you do to yourselves.
Every fish you eat, every wave you ride, every breeze you breathe
It begins with me.
I do not ask for worship.
I ask for respect.
For care.
For love.
Pick up the plastic.
Choose what you consume.
Teach your children to protect me
To love me as I have loved them.
Because I am more than blue water.
I am your history.
Your future.
Your life.
Don’t wait until I go silent.
With eternal depth,
